Turks & Caicos: Parrot cay

This private island resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands lets you enjoy blissful tranquility, with miles of white-sand beaches, succulent cuisine, and unparalleled yoga treatments available for your enjoyment. Opened in 1998, Parrot Cay Resort combines privacy with stylish beach living to accommodate discerning travelers who yearn to experience the Caribbean to its fullest. This central building features an accommodation wing housing 11 ocean facing rooms, 4 one-bedroom suites and 31 garden view rooms which open out on to a gently sloped lawned area. Some 200 meters closer to the beach you´ll discover six one-bedroom beach houses and three one-bedroom villas.  The resort´s accommodations feature a superb interior design by Keith Hobbs. Soft white cottons covering chairs, cushions and four-poster beds help to achieve a warm, contemporary look with a colonial-style finish. Part of the resort's allure is the COMO Shambhala Retreat. The spa pavilions command views of Parrot Cay's wetlands—home to many of the island's 175 bird species—and the North Caicos Channel. Amenities include Japanese baths, massage rooms, Asian and Ayurvedic therapies, yoga and pilates studios, and private spaces for couples treatments or romantic meals.

Mexico: Verana Puerto Vallarta

This small, personal hotel and spa, is as unusual as it is remote. Open November 1 through June 7, VERANA never fails to enchant guests. Luxurious yet surrounded by unadulterated nature on all sides, it is an amazing destination for weddings, honeymoons and get-away-from-it-all packages that take advantage of the fine food, setting and spa. Verana has just 9 guesthouses that dot the 5-acre property, lush with tropical plantings and fruit trees. All the guesthouses are unique in concept and feel. As Architectural Digest's Kathryn Harris said, "The bungalows are part of an ongoing play between inside and out, past and present, privacy and community, nature and manmade." Recently added are the 4 V-house buildings that offer amazing rooftop views, while offering tiny building footprints that minimise ecological damage.

The Bar serves up sunsets, signature cocktails and a wine list featuring international and local producers as well as a good selection of top shelf tequila from the region.
