Oman: Zighy Bay

Six Senses Zighy Bay is located in a secluded bay on Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, hidden behind a range of dramatic mountains and set on a splendid 1.6km sandy beach. It is probably the ideal place to get away –leaving behind the stress and hectic of modern day to day life – and to hide away, to relax, recover and have time to think, enjoy and recharge! The Resort resembles in many ways a traditional Omani village, with narrow passages between the individual villas and palm shaded, sandy roads and is an almost car-free environment. Each of the villas, carefully designed and furnished to reflect local Omani culture, featured its own ‘infinity pool’ – hidden away to secure a maximum of privacy and tranquillity. The well-being and relaxation combined with attention to detail and focus on our guests personal needs are prime concern of our hosts. Guests will have a choice of three arrival experiences. A scenic ten-minute speed boat trip, a drive down from the top of the hill overlooking the bay, or choose to travel as a companion passenger with a Six Senses professional paraglider

France: Mas Candille

There are still some little pieces of paradise on earth which only a few privileged people have the fortune of experiencing… Nestled on the hillside above Cannes with spectacular views of the foothills of the Alps, Le Mas Candille is one of these rare jewels. Its private, shady 10-acre grounds are the ideal place to stroll, meditate and unwind. A sanctuary of tranquillity and wellness, this exceptional hotel invites lovers of the “finer things in life” to relax in its Shiseido spa or one of its three swimming pools. After a visit to the medieval village of Mougins - where Pablo Picasso spent the last 15 years of his life - you will be happy to return to your “haven of peace” and savour the subtle, creative cuisine in the restaurant “Le Candille”.

France: Les Sources de Caudalie

There is no word in English for 'Caudalie'. Nor does Les Sources de Caudalie have any equivalent! It is a unique concept that brings together the sophistication of the grape, the art of haute cuisine, the Grand Cru Chateau Smith-Haute-Lafitte and thermal springs. Rejuvenation finds many forms at this hotel and spa whose luxurious style is a therapy in itself. The decor and the comfort levels are magnificent. The chef of the restaurant enjoys cooking with his personality; 'La Grand Vigne' for refined classics or 'La Table du Lavoir' with its country inn flavours. The wine list is impressive with 15,000 bottles in the chateau cellar. The cigar tasting club offers a panoramic view over the vineyards while the French Paradox bar enables guests to taste great wines and champagnes by the glass. 'Caudalie'? It used to mean the afterglow of wine on the taste buds - not any more!

Portugal, Madère : Choupana Hills

The rooms comprise of 34 bungalows built on pillars, surrounded by sumptuous gardens and many with large terraces with views of the Atlantic ocean.  The Health and Beauty Spa is a tranquil area offering innovative methods of relaxation, massage and treatments using Elemis products. There are two heated swimming pools, one in the spa and the other an outdoor lagoon pool. Sample the delights of the Xopana restaurant, champagne cocktails in the Basalt bar or savour the stunning views from the open-air jacuzzi bath on the terrace of your suite.

Italia: Vigilius

The Vigilius Mountain Resort hotel in the South Tyrol is totally tuned-in. It has not been plonked onto the landscape; it nestles there. In fact, Vigilius fits in better than most of the traditional dwellings scattered about these parts. Sleek wooden beams two storeys high stretch horizontally for several hundred metres. At one end, the structure encloses a hillock from which sprouts a cluster of firs, giving the impression of a green monument. The other end is stopped by ‘culinariums’ (that’s ‘restaurant areas’ to us). Plenty more gorgeous wood forms an almost traditional chalet, topped off by a glass treehouse. No doubt creator Matteo Thun would take exception to such vulgar descriptions. He’s a classically trained artist who can apparently turn his hand to anything he chooses. Vigilius is so beautifully functional and quietly inspiring that it’s hard to believe it was one of his first architectural projects. If you’re not fussed about treatments, Vigilius also offers infinity pools, Jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms, all with incredible views as standard. A beeline for watsu: pool-based shiatsu, involving a fair amount of floating and a few pressure points. Mrs Smith stews in a fresh-hay bath that calls for a little more mettle. Toxins are purged as the temperature rockets.

Daintree is home to the spiritual ancestors of the Kuku Yalanji tribe. Daintree Spa harnesses these potent natural forces to create a healing environment that is unique and not found anywhere else in the world.
